Delta Variant !

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in Geneva on the 2nd that due to the spread of the mutated new coronavirus and the uneven supply of vaccines, the global covid-19 is once again facing a more severe situation.

Tedros said at a press conference that day that the delta strain of the mutant new crown virus is sweeping the world at an extremely fast rate, leading to a surge in confirmed cases and deaths of the new crown. Last week, the number of confirmed cases of new crowns worldwide increased for the fourth consecutive week, and the number of deaths rose again after falling for 10 consecutive weeks. At present, the delta strain has appeared in at least 104 countries and regions, and it has quickly become the leading new coronavirus in the world.

Tedros said that the rapid spread of the delta strain has led to a large number of hospitalizations and deaths, putting great pressure on relevant countries, especially low-income countries with limited medical resources. It is recommended that countries need to put the third dose of vaccination on the schedule, and at the same time quickly establish an upgraded version of international public health and social protection measures to counter delta.
